I'm thrilled to share with you some exciting updates from our recent end-of-year showcase. The event was a resounding success, thanks in large part to your generosity. Members of our community came together to celebrate the culmination of a year's worth of hard work and dedication. During the showcase, members of the General Lab had the opportunity to share updates about the internships they participated in through the Global Development Lab. These experiences have not only enriched their personal and professional growth but have also contributed to our collective mission of driving positive change on a global scale. Supporting initiatives in India and Africa, our students were able to translate their knowledge of international development into real-world impact.
Additionally, members of the Project Incubator presented their impact projects that they developed over the course of the year. Thanks to your support, we were able to offer funding to all of our Project Incubator groups, enabling them to bring their innovative ideas to life and make a tangible difference in their communities. Our distinguished project, UCLA Bridge, was offered up to $1000 of contingent funding to start their dynamic workshop and mentorship program in areas of Los Angeles with significant educational disparities. Their project will equip young adults with the essential skills and tools necessary to succeed, and its impact would not have been possible without your support.
We were also honored to have notable guests in attendance and a remarkable panel of experts serving as judges. Their presence added to the significance of the event and underscored the importance of the work being done by our community. In summary, our end-of-year showcase was a testament to the collective efforts and unwavering support of individuals like you. Your generosity has enabled us to continue pushing the boundaries of social innovation and making a positive impact in the world.
Once again, thank you for believing in our vision and for your continued support. This has been another successful year for the Global Development Lab thanks to your support. We wish our graduating seniors the best of luck in their endeavors and are excited to welcome next year's cohort. Project Incubator is a unique program that allows students to create their own development project that allows them to make an impact on local and international communities. At the Showcase, this year's Project Incubator groups get to present the projects they have been working hard on all year with the opportunity to securing funding (thanks to your generous support) that will allow them to implement their projects and make a lasting impact in addressing the most pressing global challenges.
Your donation has played a pivotal role in empowering these passionate individuals to transform their innovative ideas into actionable projects that address pressing global challenges. Hello All!
We have made significant progress in achieving our goal over the past week! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts to those who have shared our campaign and generously given to this organization. The impact of these gifts will be exponential and we can't wait to update you on what we are able to accomplish with this funding. Cover the transportation costs for local projects! Winners last year were able to provide sexual education to classes of 30+ kids in underserved communities across Los Angeles County for just $20 in transportation costs! Additionally, every donor who provides a gift of $20+ will receive recognition at the end-of-year Project Showcase! (fully tax-deductible).
Your generous gift will provide immense support to the Global Development Lab and allow us to cover the costs of weekly meetings and other administrative costs that go into supporting the development of these critical interventions. This gift allows us to provide our winning projects with the funds necessary to implement their projects. In his project 2 years ago, Govind used each $100 to provide 2 full STI screening packages to homeless clients at a Halfway House in Cape Town, South Africa. This package included a screening for 3 STI's, a pap smear and initial treatment. Your generous gift will help fund a project that can save lives. 2018 Grant-winner Olivia used $300 to purchase a laptop for Atutur Hospital in Kumi, Uganda, to be used for communications with medical schools and other health clinics and access to medical journals, training, and databases. Your generous gift will be given to the winning project as a grant at the end of the year so that they can implement their ethical and sustainable project. You will be able to see their project presented at our Project Incubator Showcase at the end of the school year and the direct impact you will be making with this gift. This gift can provide hundreds of underserved students in Los Angeles with critical sexual education, deliver medical supplies to communities in Ghana, fund STI testing for hundreds of individuals, and change lives.
