A Space for Community and Programs

The mission of the UCLA Black Bruin Resource Center (BBRC) is to provide a space for community and resources on campus for Black students at UCLA.

Two months after the Center officially opened in 2021, over 50% of our campus’s Black student population had visited the center and taken advantage of counseling programs, career workshops, and cultural events. The BBRC addresses Black student's unique needs through one-on-one academic and mental health counseling, community workshops, and providing access to the center’s computer lab and food pantry.

The average check-ins of students at the Black Bruin Resource Center is around 80 - 100 students daily. With our growing student population utilizing this space, we need your help to improve and expand our resources!

The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) has an enrollment of 46,678 students. Only 6.5% self-identified as Black / African American for the 2023 fall term, making the Black Bruin experience unique compared to other ethnicities. Although the enrollment of Black students has increased by .8% since the fall of 2020.

UCLA is committed to facilitating programs and activities that recruit a more diverse student body and support retention efforts. Additional funding for programming and resources are still needed to recruit, retain, and graduate our Black scholars. Join our efforts to build community and celebrate the Black/African diaspora's various cultures with a gift to the center today.

Donor support has enabled the center to address food insecurity and provide free printing services, scholarships, leadership opportunities, and much more. These successes are due to a small team of dedicated staff and passionate student leaders — as well as devoted alumni and donors.

Our community-building programs include:

  • UCLA Afro Grad
  • Senior Bon Fire
  • Game Nights
  • Black Convocation
  • Breakfast Hour
  • Black Excellence Football Tailgate

UCLA strives to create an inclusive campus environment for the Black Bruin community to thrive. Supporting programs and activities that uplift the Black Bruin experience is vital.

WILL YOU JOIN US? Join UCLA Student Affairs in celebrating Black Excellence with a gift to the Black Bruin Resource Center! The sustainability of the BBRC is only made possible through the support of individuals from the Bruin community. Please consider giving to the Resource Center in the spirit of Black History Month.

A special Thank You to the dedicated staff and passionate student leaders for making the center possible at UCLA.
