Support the UCLA Department of African American Studies

If you are able, please consider making a gift of any amount in support of the UCLA Department of African American Studies this Black History Month.  Every gift directly supports our students leading the way in working to understand the intricacies of the Black experience both locally and globally and ensures that Black scholarship continues to thrive at UCLA.  With as little as $5, you can help empower our undergraduate and graduate students to continue exploring the ways that Black life intersects with the most critical issues of our time.

Last year, we were thrilled to surpass our campaign goal and raise critical funds for our students and faculty during Black History Month. This outpouring of support from our community empowers the African American Studies Department at UCLA to continue serving as a nationally recognized hub of Black Scholarship. In the past year, a number of African American Studies faculty have been recognized with awards and honors for their contributions to our understanding of Black life, history, and culture – contributions made possible by generosity of our dedicated community.

As we prepare for the future of African American Studies at UCLA, your support will allow us to further engage with our community both on campus and throughout Los Angeles  a central component of the Department's mission. This June, the African American Studies Department will hold its first Juneteenth Day Celebration with a free, public multi-media concert highlighting the history and cultural significance of Black life in the 20th and 21st centuries. A gift to the African American Studies Department this Black History Month enables us not only to continue pursuing groundbreaking interdisciplinary research, but also to to share the fruits of this research with our community in innovative and engaging ways. Please help us continue connecting with our community by making a gift today.
