UCLA Law will be represented at the 31st annual Vis Moot in Vienna, Austria, by three experienced third year students and two second year students eager to gain exposure to the practice of international arbitration. The team is coached by two practicing international arbitration attorneys.
The Vis Moot is the largest and most prestigious international moot competition in the world. Each year hundreds of teams from over 80 countries travel to Vienna to showcase their written and oral advocacy skills in a fierce competition judged by the leaders in the international arbitration field. UCLA Law is far less-resourced than our global competition - from the University of Cambridge to UC Berkeley. Your support will afford our team the resources to viably compete!
Attending the competition will allow us to learn from our coaches (experts in the field), Vis Moot judges, and other competitors, granting us the experience we need to be competitive in international arbitration practice. The opportunity to network with competitors and attorneys from around the globe will help us learn more about civil law, international trade law, and the practice of law in other jurisdictions, which will strengthen our skills as new lawyers.
UCLA Law is very well known for its international law program but it has been historically underrepresented at the Vis Moot. A larger presence at the Vis Moot as well as any accolades earned will help to solidify UCLA Law as a leader in an internationally focused legal education. Donations will help grow the team and make it more competitive now and in the future.
