Help Support the Revival of UCLA Club Softball!

Meet UCLA Club Softball!

           We are a student-run, student-funded fastpitch softball team under UCLA Recreation Club Sports. Our 2017-2018 squad is composed of 18 Bruins spanning all years, majors, and hometowns, but we are united by our drive and desire to play softball. Under the Pacific-South Conference of the NCSA, we play six other teams in three-game series from across Southern California and Arizona during our nine-week-long regular season.

           After dying out due to lack of funding and interest, this program was reinstated by a group of ambitious Bruins in 2014 who were determined to continue playing fastpitch softball in college. Since that first start-up season with a roster of thirteen players, the club has had student leaders who not only maintained our club but have strived to recruit players that share their passion for the game. Now, four years later, our mission is to use this foundation to improve our program’s financial stability so that teams in the upcoming years will have the resources necessary to reach their full competitive potential!

 

Our Expenses

            The funds for the past few years have been just enough to get the team through the season. We work to keep our club dues as affordable as possible so that financial constraints are not a deterring factor for our college-age athletes, but the costs for maintaining our program can run very high. One home series will cost us about $600-$700, which includes reserving a softball field, hiring umpires, and providing game balls. One away series will cost us about $450-$500, including lodging, fleet rentals, gas money, and food. One Bruin’s entire uniform will come out to about $80, and our current team equipment consists of one dozen practice balls, a tee, one set of catcher’s gear, and a set of practice bases. Every contribution to our campaign alleviates the financial burden placed on our players, and for that we are grateful!

 

How You Can Help!

           As an organization, providing our players with reliable equipment, safe playing fields, and comfortable travel are our main financial priorities. Our team hopes to push past the bare minimum and build a momentum that will bring us up to par with the resources that more established club teams in our league have. We aim to establish a lasting foundation for future Club Softball Bruins that will take our program to the NCSA World Series in Georgia. Your contribution, however much, will help us toward achieving these goals! Your kind and generous support is very much appreciated. Go Bruins!!

One Softball

A donation of $12 buys us one softball. We go through 3-4 game balls a series, so your donation is felt and appreciated!

Fleet Rental Expenses

$80 is enough to rent one fleet rental car and transport 8 Bruins to an away series. A donation of just $20 takes us a long way!

Field Reservation

Every three-game series is played in one weekend. When we host other teams, a donation of $30 buys us one hour of field time!

One Bruin Jersey

Representing our university is something we do with pride. A donation of $50 puts a UCLA jersey on one of our players!

Officials Fee

Our umpires come out and spend their weekends ensuring our games run safely and smoothly. This donation is enough to pay one ump for one long game of softball!

Four Bruins' Lodging

We visit club softball teams from across Southern California and Arizona. A motel room costs about $90 a night. Your donation buys four Bruins a place to sleep when we travel!

League Fee

To keep this club alive and competing, we pay a league fee of $900 annually. A contribution of $150 gets us 1/6 of the way there! Help your Bruins continue to play the sport we love!

Softball Bat

Our team equipment is very limited, and most of our players contribute their personal equipment to be shared. A donation of $300 could buy our program a team bat!

Away Series

A weekend spent as a visiting team includes expenses for fleet rentals, lodging, gas money, and food. Contributing $500 could pay for our entire squad's three-game away series!
