About Me
Hey there to the friends, family, and generous strangers out there! As most of you know, my name is Hannah and I'm a second year MPH student here at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH), focusing on Community Health Sciences.
It's long been a dream of mine to participate in the LA Marathon, but I could never quite find the motivation to actually get out there and do it - until I got an email through Fielding. The opportunities to both do something I've always wanted to accomplish all the while supporting my cohort and future public health students were too good to pass up! I've finally found my motivation (helped by the fact that I can ease into this marathon scene with a 5k hah!)
The Problem
As a full-time student as well as a full-time employee, I didn't have the option to quit my job and do field studies. This was a huge missed opportunity for me in many ways - most of my cohort came back with amazing stories of their interesting experiences in the field. The truth is, taking a summer off to do an unpaid internship is just unreasonable for many students. This is our opportunity to give future students the chance I didn't have by funding stipends for this fieldwork.
The Solution
A major part of the solution is this fundraising opportunity! By raising funds, we're creating fellowships for other FSPH students to take on really meaningful field work that impacts our community for the better! I'd appreciate any support you feel motivated to give, and I'm really proud to help carry on the legacy of UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health!
