We hope that you are all taking care of yourselves. Our team is staying safe and healthy in our own homes as classes are now online and practices have also been canceled. 

Unfortunately, our upcoming races in Tempe and Long Beach have been canceled in the interest of public safety. As our recently concluded Spark campaign was originally intended to raise funds for those races, we wanted to be transparent and update everyone on our new goals.

Breakdown of net funds:

- $1,500 Perg paddling machine (no change to original stretch goal)

- $3,000 Summer races (if these are also canceled, the funds will go towards next year’s races)

- $2,250 Team apparel (which is traditionally paid out of students’ own pockets)

All donations made to this campaign are safe with the UCLA Foundation and can only be used for UCLA Dragon Boat. Our team is thankful for your continued support in nurturing generations of student-athletes. However, if you are disappointed that the races are no longer taking place on the original dates, refunds are possible. 4 stretch goals, 126 donors, and 1 month later... our Spark campaign has successfully come to an end! Thanks to YOUR kindness and generosity, we managed to raise 481% of our initial goal! Your donations will go towards supporting our training and development as student-athletes, and we cannot thank you enough. In this last week of our campaign, we will be boosting our goal by an additional $1,000. This will help to cover logistical costs that our team incurs throughout the year, such as practice fees and equipment maintenance.

Amazing! In just the first half of our campaign, we managed to reach not just our initial goal but two additional stretch goals! We could not have done this without the kindness and generosity of all our donors. Thank you so much for all your support. 

With two weeks left in our campaign, we will be further boosting our goal by another $1,500. With the additional funds, we hope to purchase a perg, which is an indoor paddling machine that will be greatly beneficial to our team’s training. As college students juggling dragon boat alongside other academic commitments, weekends are the only available time for us to spend a few hours on the water. A perg machine would allow us to consistently practice our paddling technique throughout the week, bringing us closer to victory on race day!

Our team appreciates all the love and support and the campaign's success so far has been extremely encouraging for us to continue working hard towards our upcoming races.

This is incredible! Just a couple days after boosting our initial goal, we have hit our stretch goal of $2,500! Our team is blown away by everyone’s love and support. Thank you for inspiring us to work hard and reach greater heights as a team. 

With 24 days left in our campaign, we will be further boosting our goal by another $1,500. This will help cover our practice expenses during the school year. Every weekend, our team heads down to Long Beach for practice, where we give it our all in the lead-up to our races. As a student-run team, many expenses fall on our paddlers, including maintaining our equipment and transportation to and fro practice.
