Rugby: A New Level

We are the UCLA Men’s Rugby Team. Since 1934, our club has been a home for rugby-loving students at UCLA. We have a rich history of results at the highest level of collegiate rugby, and a drive to push ourselves even further. The team has always committed to being both an elite collegiate program, and a diverse student-oriented community. Fundraisers like this help keep the UCLA Rugby family going.

For 86 years, rugby has had a home on campus at UCLA, but Covid 19 has made this a very different year for all of us. It was hard ending last season without the year-end 15s and 7s competitions that we had trained so hard for, and it’s been hard starting off the new season without being able to train together on Drake. We look forward to the prospect of a delayed season starting later this year, but we want to make sure that we are making the necessary adaptations to keep our players and community safe.

The NCAA has been able to push forward with collegiate sports by adopting stringent regulations of testing and player separation. In order to protect our players and our community, we want to ensure that we are able to maintain those same standards in the coming season. Operating outside of the NCAA as an independent club, this will mean taking on new costs associated with player testing, extra nights in hotel rooms when traveling, etc. For 86 years UCLA Rugby has been supported by generous contributions made by family, alumni, and the UCLA community. In the difficult year ahead, we need your support more than ever.

Beyond being a sports team, UCLA Rugby has always been a place where students are able to learn and grow. Incoming students join the team and enter a community where they can connect with students from around the world, learn from senior team members, and develop lifelong bonds. 

Outside of the team, our club strives to be an upstanding part of the UCLA community. We do this by organizing social events, running a summer camp for younger children, and through active volunteer and service work. Our program commits to making our community a better place and fostering values that our players will carry with them off the field, and past their time at UCLA.
