Hi All

Quick update from the UCLA rugby team. We had our first game back on Sunday against the Giltinis Development Team. The Giltinis are LA's new professional rugby team based at the Coliseum and this team is the equivalent of their minor league team. The boys got a 22-20 win in their first game in 427 days. This really wouldn't have been possible without all of your support for our SPARK campaign which we've used for equipment purchases, coaches, safety equipment and antigen testing on game day. Thank you all again for your contributions to the team. We will now play Santa Monica on the 15th and are looking to host a game on the 22nd too. No fans are permitted at this early stage but we are hopeful they will be soon. In the meantime, I've embedded a link to the game footage.

Thanks to a late push and a phenomenal effort from Paddy Regan who ran 26 miles in 26 hours we managed to hit our SPARK goal of 25k raised. We would like to thank everyone who supported this campaign along the way and helped make our return to practice and competition possible. With the funds raised we will upgrade necessary fundamental training equipment, purchase safety equipment for travel, cover transport costs to upcoming away games v St Marys and Arizona and any other games or competition we are approved to attend. The guys had their first practice with a full team as guys returned from finals, spring break, health assessments and variety of reasons which had help up their return to the team sessions and it was clear to see the guys were excited to be back as a big group!

Hey everyone! 

Thank you all for your incredible generosity thus far. We are 75% of the way to our goal. The team is back training 2 weeks, finished finals last week and are on a deserved break this week before we go to 6 sessions per week and prepare for games and competition. As you'll have seen announced today, the CRC 7s competition is back on memorial day weekend in the new location of New Orleans and we intend to participate if allowed to do so. The guys are incredibly excited by being back and the progress we are making and the fun we are having while doing so. It is all made possible thanks to your donations. We would love if you can share the campaign with friends, family and other bruin supporters to help us hit our goal by the end of the month. Let's do this! 

Week 1! 

The players are back on the field this week, starting Wednesday night we will have x3 field sessions and x2 gym sessions per week. We have hit the first $1k in the campaign thanks to the generosity of our first donors. With the amount of training we will get in, playing games and entering the college 7s championship are very likely which means we will have the costs of getting the team safely to and from various game locations, a cost we are happy to have! 

Your support is massively appreciated, you contributions are huge . To further help us, any sharing of the campaign to family, friends or other Bruin supporters will be greatly appreciated.

After a year of virtual practice, we have been given word that state, county and campus guidelines will permit fort a return to practice this month. To say we are excited is an understatement! Help the team do this is the safest possible manner by donating today and helping us kick off a new era under Coach Clancy after a challenging year for the program.
