Our Crowdfunding Groups
The UCLA Spirit Squad is composed of the Cheer Squad, Dance Team, Yell Crew and costumed mascot personalities, Joe and Josie Bruin. The program has a total of 43 students who were accepted into UCLA on their own academic merit. The students major in a variety of departments on campus including chemical engineering, statistics, nursing, dance, business economics and more!
The student-athletes serve as ambassadors for UCLA and represent the spirit and tradition of the university. The Spirit Squad requires each student to commit an average of 20 hours each week to practice, workouts and performances at games and events, without compensation. The program is also actively involved in community outreach programming throughout southern California and the world. Due to their impacted schedules, the students are unable to get jobs and internships to help cover tuition costs and living expenses.
The Spirit Squad is housed in the Alumni Association, not the Athletic Department, and relies heavily on private donations to support their operations budget and scholarship funding for the student-athletes.
Currently, the students receive minimal scholarship money to help cover the costs of books. In an effort to maintain the quality of our world-class program and attract future talent, it is imperative for us to increase the scholarship funding and provide the student-athletes with additional support.
Our Spark campaign will raise scholarships for the 2016-2017 team to receive this spring! Our goal is to raise $50,000. Please help us reach our goal by donating today! Through your financial contribution, each Spirit Squad member can focus on their studies, participating on the Squad and enjoy campus life at UCLA. Give today to make a difference in their lives.
