Thank you to everyone who has given to the campaign thus far! We are excited to share that we have raised $1,827 from 18 donors. However, we have fallen quite short of our campaign goal. Last year during Black History Month, we raised $3,736 from 45 donors. That was a big win and it helped us to grant our first five scholarship awards to current students! Can you help us match last year's giving?
This year, we set a very ambitious goal. Our hope was not only to match support from last year, but to set our sights high to raise $10,000 toward new scholarships at UCLA Arts! With only hours left, please help us to spread the word before the campaign ends in the next 11 HOURS so we can finish strong!

Last year, this community came together to invest in the UCLA Arts Racial Equity Fund. As a result of your philanthropy, a dream was finally realized, and we were able to award five new scholarships to our inaugural recipients!
We caught up with one of those inaugural scholarship awardees and current student, Nehemiah Cisneros, to speak about the impact that scholarship support makes for artists and creators at the UCLA School of Arts & Architecture. In honor of the 18 volunteer students, staff and faculty members who came together to form the inaugural UCLA Arts Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commission! Donate $18 in honor of their work to combat racism and advance social justice.
Since 2016, we've only had 98 Black graduate students enrolled at UCLA Arts. Today, only 5% of our UCLA Arts graduate students are US residents who identify as Black. Over the past five years, we have not enrolled a single International graduate student who identifies as Black. We want this to change. Your gift will help us award scholarships and fellowships to support our recruitment of students and to build a more diverse school community.
Over the past 5 years, we've only had 247 Black undergraduate students enrolled at UCLA Arts. Today, Black Americans account for only 7% of our undergraduate students. Your gift will honor these students while building scholarship support for future generations of students on their journey toward shaping the future.
Black Americans account for 14.2% of the US population but only 3.6% of professors, and 6% of graduate and undergraduate students at UCLA Arts. Your gift to the UCLA Arts Racial Equity Fund helps us to foster an environment that values difference, rejects inequity and actively works to advance social justice and amplify historically underrepresented and excluded voices.
