SLAM at UCLA is a student-led organization committed to providing all students with access to music education. As a part of SLAM, UCLA college students volunteer to teach at local underprivileged middle and high schools. UCLA student volunteers implement a comprehensive curriculum for weekly ninety-minute classes in one of five subjects - guitar, piano, voice, percussion, and rock band - at each of our school partners.
SLAM fills critical voids in school districts left by underfunded music programs. Many school systems in California have experienced the most drastic reduction of funding for Visual and Performing Arts programs, and these schools have been left without resources to support a music education program. SLAM recognizes the importance of providing students with quality and accessible music instruction, and by donating to our campaign, you would be helping us bring the joy of music to young students in LA!
