We're a team of undergraduate students working to, each year, design and build a single-seat off-road vehicle. This year, our car will compete in ten events–including rock crawls, maneuverability courses, and wheel-to-wheel races–against over 150 colleges worldwide.
Every year, over 80 undergraduate UCLA students gain valuable experience on a real-world engineering team through Baja. Members independently design every component that goes onto the car, create detailed models and drawings, and manufacture and test the final product. Baja graduates are extraordinarily well-prepared for any career they choose to pursue, with a 100% job placement rate in their chosen fields. And most importantly, we're committed to ensuring that Baja is accessible to any student that attends UCLA, regardless of prior experience or financial situation. As a result, we have never had applications to join nor membership fees.
As our team continues to grow and improve, so do the costs of traveling to these competitions, which are held across the country. This year, our team is traveling to Oshkosh, WI, and Portland, OR. To keep our zero-membership-fee promise, we're raising money to pay for food, lodging, the transportation of our vehicles and ourselves across the country, and drive days where we take our cars to the desert to test drive them. We only receive limited funding (less than 10 percent of our costs) from the university itself, so we rely on the generous support of sponsors and donors like yourself to make the Baja experience accessible to all UCLA students.
We believe that anyone can be an engineer, and your contribution to our campaign can give our students the opportunity to prove it to themselves. Baja members are UCLA's best and brightest, and with your support, you can help us continue providing this experience for years to come.

We design and build every part of the Baja car ourselves, including the gearbox, transmission, suspension, and frame, and every component on our vehicle is vital, no matter how small! Your gift of $10 will help us pay for the critical nuts and bolts that make it go.
Bruin Racing is proud to offer hands-on training programs in computer-aided design (CAD), machining, electronics, composite materials, and welding. These subjects are not typically taught at UCLA until a students third or fourth year, if at all, but through our training program, your gift of $20 will help cover material costs for one student to be able to immediately learn and contribute as early as their first few weeks on the team.
At Bruin Racing, we put safety first! We use a special six-point harness seatbelt to keep our drivers safe, in addition to other equipment, and have maintained an outstanding safety record throughout our team history. Your donation of $50 will help us ensure we have the best safety equipment, both in the shop and on our car.
Your gift of $100 will help us cover the (inevitably necessary) spare tire for our team trailer, as we drive it over 6,000 miles to Portland, OR and Oshkosh, WI!
Your gift of $250 will help us fund round-trip transportation to our competition in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for one member!
Your gift of $500 will help cover permits, food, transportation, and other supplies for a team Drive Day, where we bring several of our vehicles to the desert for testing! As a thank you, we will send you exclusive videos from the drive day and a framed team photograph. (Tax deductible donation of $490)
Your gift of $1,000 will help us completely fund our team food costs at either the Oregon or Wisconsin competition! As a thank you, we will send you a merchandise package and team photograph, as well as your name on our car as a -Special Thanks To!- (Tax deductible donation of $960)
