Breaking Barriers, Building Trust - UCLA Mobile Clinic Project

New Goal: Help us get an extra $2,500 for Vaccines!

Our Spark campaign has been so successful in raising the $10,000 that we need, we want to extend our goal! We've received such incredible support from all of our communities, our families, and our friends that we've decided to increase our goal by an extra $2,500 so that we can purchase a year's worth of vaccines to be offered to clients. The barriers to acquiring regular vaccinations make many of our clients even more susceptible to preventable illnesses that they are already at major risk of contracting - flu, hepatitis, etc. With the additional $2,500, not only would we be able to offer clients the option of receiving the annual flu vaccine, but a number of booster and additional vaccines as well, providing those who are seeking the extra protection against illness with the resources to do so.

Thank you again to all of our donors; we can't tell you how grateful we are for your kindness and generosity. Please feel free to share our campaign with those who want to make a difference in the health of homeless populations. With your incredible support, we met our first fundraising goal and we are about to reach another one!

We are a student-run coalition dedicated to delivering compassionate care and expanding the access of medical and social resources to meet the healthcare needs of the homeless and underserved populations in Santa Monica and Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Our Mission

To improve the health outcomes and quality of life for our patients by providing

  1. Medical services
  2. Health promotion and disease prevention activities
  3. Social support and case management
  4. Referrals to medical and social services

But we don't just stop there! In recent years we've expanded our services to provide free prescription glasses for patients, physical therapy sessions, and other auxiliary resources to address the widely varying needs of our diverse client population. In June 2016, we even launched a new program, Companion Care, where students accompany our clients to their medical appointments. Every year, our students implement new projects, such as Companion Care, to improve the quality of care to our patients - we never stop growing.

Meet Our Team

We are a coalition of UCLA students from all backgrounds and disciplines - passionate about community service and driven to making our client's dreams a reality.

Medical Students - conduct physical exams and diagnoses under the supervision of a medical attending. They provide prescription medications, promote medication adherence, prevention techniques, and health education services to our patients, treating every patient with the medical attention that they deserve.

Public Health Students - work with individuals on social issues, such as housing, transportation, counseling, and more. They enter clients into the Coordinated Entry System (CES), plugging our patients into the LA county housing voucher program, and serve as advocates for their housing needs at monthly district hearings.

Undergraduate Students - act as client advocates and work directly with individuals to piece together the social and medical resources that would make their visit with our clinic as effective as possible. The kindness and respect that they give are fundamental in establishing the trusting relationship that we have with clients, and ultimately connect us to the homeless community we serve.

We are at clinic every week of the year, delivering first-rate medical care interwoven with housing resources, social services, and the compassionate attentiveness of our students.

At both our sites in Santa Monica and Hollywood, we see 10-25 clients per clinic, and spend on average $30 per client seen.

Last year, through the relentless efforts of our student team, we treated 1,000+ homeless cases, a number which we hope to beat every year forward.

Every year, we give over:

  • $15,000 in patient supplies (hygiene kits, clothing, and much more)

  • $10,000 in medications (blood pressure control, antibiotics, vitamins, and more)

  • $3,000 in prescription glasses

  • $2,200 in transportation costs for patients

Your donation today is critical to funding clinic operations, specifically for purchasing medications and supplies that are vital  to our clients. Just a $100 donation can provide care for close to 3 clients, so please DONATE NOW!!
