Welcome to the Kendra Pérez Memorial Scholarship.
When Kendra Pérez was asked why she was interested in theater, film, and television, she would often reply, “I want to do it all.” The truth of the matter is, Kendra did just that. She was a generous scene partner and vivid performer on stage and on screen, a developing director with a distinct vision, and a passionate writer with a plethora of personal stories that she yearned to share with the world. In addition to these many talents, Kendra was also a skilled teacher who pushed her students to the best of their abilities and inspired her colleagues to become more engaging, bold, and compassionate educators. Kendra’s talent knew no boundaries; she was fearless and never let any opportunities pass her by. She encouraged her students and peers to have the same joyful, daring, and positive attitude towards their craft.
The interdisciplinary MFA acting program at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television gave Kendra the opportunity to explore her many interests and continue to hone her skills as an educator and artist. With love, support, and perspective from her hometown of Laredo, Texas, she moved to Los Angeles to make her dreams a reality. The Kendra Pérez Memorial Scholarship will support an MFA acting student who gives voice to the unique perspective of Latinx actors. It will give this student the chance to grow as an artist just as Kendra did during her time at UCLA. By donating to this fund, you will keep Kendra’s memory alive and spread her warmth and encouragement towards those interested in growing as artists and professionals in theater, film, and television.
