Hello!
Thank you for visiting one the first updates for my fundraising and training for the 5K (and by default my half marathon in July). It's only been 1 day and we're nearly there with my goal. Thank you to everyone who's donated so far and thanks to everyone for the support and well-wishes via social media.
Also, in the spirit of my running with you, I'm going to share some of the songs that people have shared with me. Here's the playlist thus far:
On that note, let me give you the background for why I'm also asking for music recommendations.
Music is definitely an important part of my life. I might not perform anymore (it's been almost 10 years since I've played an instrument), but the social and spiritual connection I feel through music is what really energizes me. Throughout the years, I've associated music with certain memories and certain people. Music has been my inspiration as I do work, research, and write. It's also been my creative outlet and way to connect/stay connected to people. My call for music recommendations while I run actually sprang out from another friend who asked me for three songs when they were running the Chicago Marathon a few years ago. When I got that request, of course I had to share what songs were most important to me. As you continue to read my updates, I'll share some of the songs from that list (as well as the song recommendations that I have as well and how I connect to music).
Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far. I will also be sure to give you a shout out as we continue on this journey together.
